Kiel, Mouhon Lead Slew of Bearcats on Steele Preseason All-AAC Teams

Four Cincinnati Bearcats were named to Phil Steele’s preseason All-AAC team. As you can tell by the headline, Cincinnati quarterback Gunner Kiel was named to the first team, as well as defensive end Silverberry Mouhon. The pair were joined by receiver Mekale McKay and offensive lineman Parker Ehinger.

Mouhon was one of three Bearcats to make the preseason Steele team a year ago. He was joined by Eric Lefeld and Hosey Williams. That Hosey Williams pick …. it turned out to be wrong. Very wrong.

Parker Ehinger ended the year on Steele’s first team All-AAC squad. Kiel was a third team selection. Kiel was behind Shane Carden and Paxton Lynch if you were wondering.

The second team saw more familiar Bearcat faces. Deyshawn Bond landed on the second team. Chris Moore and Shaq Washington took up two of the three receiver spots. Safety Zach Edwards netted a second team selection as well.

The second team special teams was dominated by Bearcats. Kicker Andrew Gantz, kick returner Johnny Holton and punt returner Shaq Washington all littered the list. It’s the second year in a row that Washington was twice named to the preseason list.

Justin Murray was the only Bearcat named to the third team. Mike Boone, BOOOOOOOOONE, and LEVITICUS PAYNE picked up spots on the fourth team.

Cincinnati had three receivers land on the Steele teams, the most out of any AAC school. Cincinnati and Memphis were the only schools with multiple receivers, taking up 5 of the 12 spots.

Here are the whole teams in case you wanted to see them, courtesy of Steele:
