Kings bring David Stockton up from Bighorns

With Darren Collison doubtful with a strained right hip flexor and Ramon Sessions on his way to Washington in a deal for Andre Miller, the Sacramento Kings have called for reinforcements. David Stockton, son of Hall of Fame guard John Stockton, is on his way from Reno to Sacramento on a 10-day contract.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound guard went undrafted coming out of Gonzaga last season, but he has found a home with the Bighorns as the orchestrator for their fast-paced Grinnell-style offense. In 31 games this season, the 23-year-old Stockton is averaging 16.6 points, 8.2 assists and 2.4 steals in 27.4 minutes per night.

Stockton has a long way to go as a prospect, but the Kings want to push the tempo.  He joins Quincy Miller as the second Reno Bighorn to get the call to Sacramento this season.  Miller played in six games over the last month with the Kings, but was not retained by the club for the remainder of the season.  The high-flying forward signed a 10-day contract with the Detroit Pistons yesterday.

Stockton will wear No. 9 and is available for tonight’s game against the Boston Celtics.
