Kings hire Ken Catanella as assistant general manager

The Sacramento Kings have hired Ken Catanella as assistant general manager, according to Marc Stein. Catanella worked two seasons as Director of Basketball Operations for the Detroit Pistons and is known to be a salary cap specialist.

Prior to his time with the League Office, Catanella managed the analytics efforts of the New Jersey Nets (2006-08) and managed the creation and implementation of the Nets’ statistical scouting systems according to his profile on the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics website.

I guess this move will make Vlade Divac’s biggest critics happy since they act as if they know more than he does. Mike Bratz will now be re-assigned as Director of Scouting, which is the right move. The pieces are slowly but surely moving in the right direction for the Kings.
