The Sacramento Kings are back at it again on this beautiful Sunday. They have agreed to sign versatile guard, Garrett Temple on a three-year deal, worth $24 million.
Not only is this another solid signing by Vlade Divac, but it adds more depth to a depleted roster that lacked defensive-minded players.

On March 3, 2010, Temple signed a 10-day contract with the Sacramento Kings and at the time didn’t do enough to stay for the long haul. But after playing for the Spurs, Bucks, and Wizards, his game improved, which led to his new deal with the Kings.
As a starter for Washington last season, he had a net rating of plus-13.1 when he was on the floor. When he became a reserve, the number plummeted to minus-2.1, according to the Washington Post. That’s impressive!
Temple thrived playing with the starting lineup. In eight starts, he shot 48.1 percent from the field, including 41.9 percent from 3-point range, and averaged 14.1 points in 31.6 minutes per game, according to the Washington Post.

It also helped that he scored a season-high 23 points against the Kings last season. I’m impressed that the Kings aren’t overpaying in the craziest free agent market we have seen in NBA history.
They are signing solid professionals on short-term deals and giving themselves a lot of flexibility for next year’s free agent period. Right about now, Divac is silencing all of his critics.
