Kings land Arron Afflalo on short-term deal

The shooting guard that was coveted a lot last year has decided to sign a two-year, $25 million deal to play in Sacramento. Today, the Kings are a better team with Arron Afflalo starting at the shooting guard position.

It’s funny how things work, not many mentioned Afflalo to be rumored to head to the Kings and now they have themselves a solid defender on a short-term deal.

Now we can see a rookie such as Malachi Richardson develop behind a consummate professional. Not a bad way to start free agency for Vlade Divac.

// Another thing I wanted to mention in the last article was the belief of players getting paid too much money. NBA teams need to spend 90 percent of their salary cap. That’s about $84.6 million and if they don’t then that money would have to go to their current players, which isn’t a bad thing either.

I say that because it would give the team a lot more flexibility next year when the cap rises even more and the free agent class is a lot stronger. Therefore, the money will need to get spent and paying Afflalo $25 million in two years is a great decision.
