In the first of five west coast road games, the Raptors arrived in California to face their first opponent on the trip, the Sacramento Kings. This is definitely a game that the Toronto Raptors will wish they closed out. The Raptors led by 10 points in the 4th quarter, but the Kings mounted a late 4th quarter rally of their own to get past the Raptors by a final score of 107-101.
The Kings’ DeMarcus ‘Boogie’ Cousins was practically unstoppable, putting up 36 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Cousins also made three 3-pointers, and also contributed with 3 assists and 3 blocked shots. Former Toronto Raptor Rudy Gay is always extra motivated when he faces his former team. Gay came up big himself, with 27 points (on 10 of 16 shooting), 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Kings’ point guard, Rajon Rondo continues to play HUGE minutes with Nick Collison currently dealing with a strained hamstring. Rondo logged 44 minutes and dished out 14 assists, he did also have a game high 7 turnovers as well.
DeMar DeRozan led the way for the Raptors with 24 points, and was very active on both ends of the floor. He also contributed 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and collected 5 steals. Kyle Lowry shot the ball well, especially from long distance, making six 3-pointers, contributing to his 22 points. Lowry also added 7 assists and had 4 steals. DeMarre Carroll and Cory Joseph each added 17 points.
The Raptors road trip continues and next they will face NBA MVP Stephen Curry and the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night, Nov. 17, at Oracle Arena, 10:30pm ET tip off.
