Kings release their new look, unveil black alternate jerseys

Last season, the Sacramento Kings marketing team unleashed a can of worms with their season-opening campaign Here We Rise.  The slogan became Here We Stay, Here We Build, Here We Sit, Here We Purple, as Kings fans rallied to save their team.

Well, how does Back In Black sound for the 2011-12 season?  What does it mean?  It means that the Sacramento Kings will turn back the clock to their glory years with a re-invented black alternate jersey.

Today, the Kings rolled out their new look, complete with a promotional video that includes Kings legends Bobby Jackson, Scot Pollard and Doug Christie.  Although I am not a jersey wearing kind of guy, I had the privilege of seeing the new design last night and these things are going to fly off the shelf for Christmas.

Accompanying the new jersey is a four-game ticket pack that should fly off the shelf as well.  Call it luck, call it an NBA hand out, but the Kings begin the season at home against the Lakers, then to Portland for a quick road trip before returning for the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and New Orleans Hornets.  We do not typically promote ticket packages here on Cowbell Kingdom, but a four game set with Kobe Byrant, Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire, possibly Chris Paul and five free t-shirts to go with that package?

The Kings are looking to fill up the arena for that first home stand and they would love to do it with Kings fans in black, not a sea of yellow. All 17,000-plus fans will be treated to a t-shirt give away for what fans groups are already calling the Here We Stayed game.  It should be an emotional evening out at Power Balance Pavilion.
