The Sacramento Kings will tip off training camp in less than a month. And they plan on starting their 2012-13 NBA campaign away from Sacramento.
The Kings announced today they’ll open training camp on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. They’ll hold two practices a day through Sunday, Oct. 7 before returning to Sacramento Oct. 8.
“It’s important to get away to a place like Colorado Springs to continue the bonding, building and growth of our team,” said Kings head coach Keith Smart in a press release issued by the team. “The players did an outstanding job this offseason of coming together as a unit on various occasions and this is just a continuation of that process of growing our team and moving it in the right direction. I’m looking forward to getting off to a well-conditioned training camp and productive preseason in preparation for opening night and the regular season.”
Before training camp begins, the Kings will hold their annual media day on Monday, Oct. 1 at their Natomas practice facility. Their first preseason game is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 10 against the Phoenix Suns at Power Balance Pavilion.
