Klay Thompson: Bike Shot Took 8 Or 9 Tries, One-Upped Steph Curry’s PhunkeeDuck Shot

MENDENHALL CENTER, LAS VEGAS, NV — A couple weeks ago, while Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson was in Las Vegas, NV to train with USA Basketball’s Men’s National Team along with three other Warriors, Thompson set some time aside to at a local high school to do some promotional work with Stance Hoops, official sock provider of the NBA.

“There was a bike in the gym and I love biking,” Thompson told LetsGoWarriors. “I was like, ‘I’m going to try and do a circus shot here.'”

“It took me a few tries and I got lucky and made one,” said Thompson of his halfcourt-shot-on-a-bike. “I got balance and I’m confident on a bike and it wasn’t that hard.”

Just a few tries, Klay?

“That’s being generous,” Thompson admitted. “Probably took me about 8 or 9.”

A couple days ago, Thompson tried the bike shot again while on a trip to promote his Anta shoe in China (pictured, H/T Diamond Leung).

The previous month, Stephen Curry tried out a PhunkeeDuck, a two-wheeled so-called “self-balancing electric scooter” that J.R. Smith of the Cleveland Cavaliers had brought to prominence riding around on one before and after NBA Finals games at Quicken Loans Arena.

Curry was at his Elite Camp and Under Armour captured the trick shot:

“I’d say the bike’s harder, though,” said Thompson. “I had to do it one-handed, that’s what I told Steph. I was trying to one-up him.”

Seems he has succeeded.

“That took a lot of coordination,” Curry told LetsGoWarriors. “That was impressive.”

When asked if Curry expected to one-up Thompson at some point in the future, Curry responded, “Nah, I’m not. I’m not. He can have that one.”

How many of you in #DubNation believe that?
