Twelve years ago, Saturday’s Tim Hudson–Barry Zito matchup would’ve been pretty cool. But in 2015…watching the pair of aging pitchers was just painful.
How painful? They were overshadowed by the dude throwing out the first pitch.
First pitches on radar guns: Barry Zito 85 mph, Tim Hudson 87 mph, Klay Thompson 89 mph. #sfgiants #athletics #warriors

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsWhile I’m not sure whether or not Klay Thompson really did hit 89 on the radar gun (there are some conflicting reports), the Golden State Warriors All-Star did bring the heat and threw a strike with his ceremonial first pitch.

“Actually, my best team ever was my little league baseball team. I was on the same team as (fellow NBA star) Kevin Love,” Thompson recalls. “We won state and everything. We were only a couple games away from going to the Little League World Series.”
Baseball has stayed in the family’s blood, however.
The youngest Thompson, Trayce is an outfielder for the Chicago White Sox. The rookie is hitting .309 through his first 36 games in the Majors.
