Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala have been lobbying hard not to trade Klay Thompson in a potential blockbuster deal that would bring Kevin Love to the Golden State Warriors, to which #DubNation fans in support of this position have used the hashtag #KeepKlay on Twitter.

In interviews with NBA Radio and SI Now, while Iguodala referred to Love as “an awesome talent”, Iguodala also played the loyalty card.

“I’m going to ride or die with him,” Iguodala said, “Maybe there’s a way we can continue to add great pieces, without touching our core guys.”

Iguodala said that he has even counseled Thompson about being part of trade rumors.

“Klay really loves it in the Bay,” Iguodala explained, “This is his first time going through trade rumors, and I’ve been through it many times, especially being in Philly, but Klay is my main man. I love Klay to death — one of my favorite people in the world, even though he doesn’t speak — but we are going to get paid this year. He is going to be a Warrior for life.”

“I had to let Klay know,” Iguodala added, “Look at the big picture. There’s a good side and a bad side to everything. You have got to look at the positives. If they’re talking about trading you for a guy like Kevin Love, that means you’re worth what Kevin Love is making, so you know the big payday’s coming.”

Iguodala went even further, saying that Thompson should get a maximum contract when the time comes.

“I tell Klay this every day,” Iguodala said, “I text Klay and say don’t worry, I’m your man, I’m going to make sure you get paid. I’m going to get you the max. You are taken care of. Do not stress.”

And with full confidence, Iguodala gave his prediction on the Love-for-Thompson trade: “That’s not going to happen. I want to clear that up right now, let’s not trade Klay Thompson.”

Curry was not as defensive about it and, as is the norm with him, realistic about things in an interview with Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group.

“I love Klay,” Curry told Leung, “I love playing with him as well as David Lee. Those are my teammates, the guys that I love. We’ve fought so hard the last three years together growing, and it would be very, very difficult to see that end. As great as Kevin Love is, it would be very hard to see your teammates and your brothers leave at this time. So we’ll see what happens, but it’d definitely be a tough situation.”
