Klay Thompson Trying To Become Best Shooter In NBA (Photo: Zimbio)
Klay Thompson was considered one of the better all-around scoring guards last season. His ability to knock down shots from anywhere on the court and lock down his opposition earned praise from around the league. Those were also key factors that led to Golden State deciding to keep their younger “Splash Brother”.
As good as Thompson was last year, he hasn’t changed his mentality of improving his game and is taking advantage of this opportunity to play on the USA national team. “When you get this much time to spend around some of the greatest players in the world you can get better just by being around them”, Thompson said.
Thompson has continued to get better in his three seasons with the Warriors. His points per game have increased every year along with his turnover to assist ratio. “I’ve been shooting with Kyle Korver everyday just because when somebody shoots 40% from three, I’m trying to get to that level.” But Klay is already on the level, Thompson shot 41.7 percent from three last year just shy of Korver’s 42.5 mark. If he keeps up what he is doing he might just catch his back court buddy, Steph Curry.
But Thompson wouldn’t say he isn’t quite there yet. “Him (Korver) and Steph are two guys that I really feel can beat me in a shooting contest so I try to challenge myself.” He might just being humble but the way Thompson has been playing recently it might not be too long before they will be trying to get on his level.
