Past comments by Arizona Cardinals new head coach Kliff Kingsbury about one of the top prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft have gone under the microscope this week, given the circumstances.
Now that Kingsbury has been hired by the team with the No.1 overall draft pick, his take on Heisman Trophy winner/Oklahoma quarterback Kyle Murray have really come to light. It was only a few months ago when Kingsbury said he’s take Murray with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.
“Kyler is a freak,” he said. “I’d take him with the first pick in the draft if I could. I know he’s signed up to play baseball, but he is a dominant football player, and I would take him with the first pick.”

He probably had no idea that he’d be in charge of running a team that could potentially do exactly that — draft Murray. That’s sparked rumors about quarterback Josh Rosen possibly being on the trade block. Rosen is a polarizing player that has had some analysts believing that he’s a potential franchise quarterback, while others question his work ethic, deep passing and ability to perform under pressure.
However, the Cardinals are nipping that rumor in the butt as quickly as possible, saying that they have no intention to trade Rosen.
Checked with a high-ranking #AZCardinals source, who called this notion of trading QB Josh Rosen: “Ludicrous. Not happening.” https://t.co/n3IccAgR6V

Kingsbury might prefer Murray, but he’s stuck with Rosen for now, it seems.
