The Knicks took a 12-point lead into the fourth quarter during Thursday’s game in London against the Wizards, and it looked like they were actually going to win a road game. So, maybe, they just need to travel further — outside of North America — to win a contest.
But a fourth-quarter collapse, and a last-second “block that wasn’t” sealed their fate, and they managed to blow yet another game.
Noah Vonleh hit a hook shot to give the Knicks back the lead with roughly 30 seconds remaining, and all the team needed was a defensive stand. They actually got one, but a missed three-pointer gave the Wizards the ball back with roughly three seconds remaining. Thomas Bryant received an inbounds pass and drove right to the hoop. Somehow, the Knicks let him get right down the lane, which allowed him to attempt a layup. Allonzo Trier swatted it away, but he was called for goaltending, and the Wizards took a 101-100 lead with 0.4 seconds remaining. That ended up being the final score.
