Knicks Turn to Higher Powers In Hopes of Making Playoffs

Oh, how the (not so) mighty have fallen. Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Pini Gershon refused to leave the court after he was ejected from Sunday’s exhibition game against the New York Knicks. Gershon became irate with the NBA’s replacement referees after a charging foul was called on Al Harrington.  Whether he knew the call was actually in his favor or not, Gershon was T’d up for the second time in the game and ejected.

However, the refs were unable to persuade Gershon to go to the locker room. NBA officials and MSG security also got involved, but Gershon did not budge until a rabbi came out of the stands to handle the situation.  It’s still unknown if Rabbi Yitzchak Dovid Grossman was motivated by any smoldering shrubbery, but he persuaded Gershon to leave after threatening him with a plague of locusts.

The Knicks will look to Rabbi Grossman to part the teams of the Eastern conference like the Red Sea and lead them to the Promised Land this year.  Gershon is well-known in Israel for these types of antics, but his refusal to leave the court turned a seemingly ordinary exhibition into the most entertaining Knicks game since Patrick Chewing roamed the MSG paint.
