Not much to say except that the Knicks have a superstar in Carmelo Anthony, and the Pacers do not. Carmelo caught fire in the second half en route to 32 points. The Pacers could not defend and could not score. A 30-2 followed and the Knicks turn a tight game into a 105-79 laugher in New York. The series is now tied 1-1 heading back to Indianapolis. The teams won't play again until Saturday.
Is this troubling for a team that looked to be in control after game 1? Absolutely. I know the Knicks can get hot in a hurry, but a 30-2 run is ridiculous. And it shows the potential the Knicks have if their game is clicking. The Pacers, on the other hand, don't have such a margin of error. As good as Paul George and David West are, they can't pour in the points like that. The Pacers will have to go back to the drawing board, tighten up the defense, recalibrate the offense, and prevent such things from happening again.
The good news is that they are strong in Indiana and will be tough to beat. Right now, however, it looks inevitable that they will give up one of the two games at home. It's up to coach Frank Vogel to get his team ready for the challenge.
