When asked about his new career goals after the game, Kobe had this to say: “Even after I won my fourth NBA championship last year, I realized that there was no way I was going to become greater than MJ. I tried to change my number to one better than his, but it just wasn’t working. Now that I’m doing this, people will always realize I’m the greatest HORSE player ever.”
Phil Jackson was also interviewed about Kobe’s new focus. “He’s really excited about this new direction. I told him that he was never going to be like Mike. The only way for him to be remembered as one of the all-time greats was to either commit a crime and hire Johnnie Cochran, or do this. I’m glad he chose the HORSE thing. I didn’t want jury duty.”
