Koenig named Wisconsin high school Player of the Year

Make it back-to-back for Wisconsin recruits winning the AP State basketball Player of the Year award as on Wednesday  it was announced 2013 Badgers signee Bronson Koenig was named the 2013 AP Player of the Year, following up the honor won by Badgers freshman Sam Dekker a season ago.

He's also rather familiar with winning on the Kohl Center floor since he became a two time state champion last week, winning the Division 3 state crown over Lodi. Koenig had 16 points and 5 assists in the 53-48 state championship win and averaged 16.9 points and 4.4 assists per game. He also shot an insane 45.5% from behind the arc too.

After missing his junior season with a hand injury it's safe to say redemption was pretty sweet. If you've seen him play it's also safe to say it's hard not to daydream of what it'll be like to see dynamic playmakers like Koenig and Dekker playing together on the same court.

Of course that may be easier said than done, next season at least, as Koenig will be entering a loading backcourt that returns every one of the players that are in the rotation this season and a returning Josh Gasser as well.
