We’ve come to the weekend and our first players with the same number…aren’t you overjoyed? Hey, at least we are just 91 days to the start of Badger football!
This time in August a lot of us will be sitting in Houston, waiting on one of the biggest non-conference games in Badger football history. One of these two No. 91s could have a big role in that game against LSU.
Let’s get in to knowing a bit more about No. 91s, shall we?
Zagzebski’s Story So Far:
– Played in all 13 games during 2013, starting three of them. He totaled 19 tackles, and two tackles for loss. His best game came at Ohio State, where he recorded four tackles.
– Has made starts in each of the last two seasons, playing in a total of 30 games over his three years on the field. Zagzebski has recorded 25 tackles, two tackles for loss and one pass defensed.
– Was at the top of the Badgers depth chart at defensive end following the graduation of Pat Muldoon and Ethan Hemer.
Nethery’s Story So Far:
– Nethery, a Greendale, Wis. native has not appeared in a game for the Badgers. He is currently the backup punter to Drew Meyer.
– Averaged 46 yards per punt as a senior in high school, helping him to earn Kohl’s 4-star status and 4.5-star punter rating.
What to expect in 2014:
Zagzebski, along with Warren Herring are the only truly experienced defensive linemen the Badgers have. After spring there was little doubt that he would be a starter heading in to 2014. With Wisconsin moving to a more flexible rotation along the line, Zagzebski could fill multiple roles along the line depending on the situation. His role will be key in allowing a more attacking and athletic defense to take the field this season. Nethery is waiting in the wings behind Meyer, who established himself as a capable option for Wisconsin last year. Look for Nethery to be the guy in 2016, but someone who will be good for Wisconsin should anything happen to him during the course of the season.
