Welcome to June folks! O.k., got that out of the way. On to our continued countdown to the official kick-off of the Gary Andersen era of Wisconsin football. Up today is one of those dreaded "double numbers" that often happen in college football.
It's just 91 days to the start of the Badger football season, or in our language, just Konrad Zagzebski and Brett Nethery to Badger football. One of these names, Zagzebski made a small mark on the 2012 season and is making a jersey change in 2013. Nethery is a name you probably haven't heard of before – unless you are crazy like us and study the roster at length every spring and summer.
So, let's explore the stories of these two so far.
Brett Nethery's story at Wisconsin:
– Nethery is a Greendale, WI native who redshirted last season and thus is a redshirt freshman in 2013.
– Was the No. 54 ranked punter by Kohl's – the punter/kicking ranking service.
Konrad Zagzebski's story at Wisconsin:
– Last season Zagzebski wore No. 74 at Wisconsin.
– He's made 18 appearances in his two previous season's at Wisconsin, starting just once last year (against Nebraska)
– Zagzebski made just 4 tackles and had one pass defensed in 2013
History of No. 91 at Wisconsin:
This list should start and stop with one man – Don Davey (1987-1990). He was 1st team All-Big Ten his senior season along with being a team captain and MVP. He is 5th in tackles for loss all time at UW as well as 3rd in tfl yardage and 5th in career sacks. Davey was a 3rd round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers, playing eight seasons in the NFL. Off the field Davey is the only four time first team Academic All-American in university division history.
