We whacked him pretty thoroughly last week for playing poorly. This week, we praise him heartily. Maybe he just needed to get out of Indianapolis and try another country.
Whatever it was, he was sharp Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills. He was composed and accurate. He was 5-for-6 passing for 97 yards, hitting Taj Smith on back-to-back 38- and 43-yard passes, the latter resulting in a touchdown. Incredibly, his quarterback rating was a perfect 158.3, which is roughly 142 points better than last week.
Now, would I still like to see the Colts consider a more veteran presence at the backup spot? Absolutely. I believe it’s important to have good insurance, even if you never use it.
