The July 10th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Angels still looking to add late-inning reliever, Weaver to make next start and much more…

The Story: The Angels are still looking for one more bullpen piece.
The Monkey Says: Dipoto won’t say he’s looking for a closer, but someone who can help get the “last nine outs.” I’m pretty sure that is code for saying he wants a closer but is leaving the door open in case he has to settle for something less. Joaquin Benoit would suit me just fine.

The Story: Jered Weaver is expected to make his scheduled start on Saturday.
The Monkey Says: I’m a bit surprised since they had been so cautious with just about every other injury this year, but they know better than I do… sometimes.

The Story: Jim Bowden wants the Angels to swing a “blockbuster” trade to acquire Huston Street and Yasmani Grandal.
The Monkey Says: The asshat believes the Angels should give up Kaleb Cowart, Taylor Lindsey, Jose Rondon, R.J. Alvarez and Victor Alcantara in the deal. That makes a ton of sense seeing how the Angels would be gutting their farm system to rent a closer and acquire a catcher even though they are getting strong production from their current catching tandem. Oh, and just to top it off, it was Bowden who less than two weeks ago thought the Angels should trade Cowart and Alex Yarbrough to get Street alone. Somehow adding Grandal, who is having a terrible season and coming off a major knee injury and PED suspension, to the package blows up the price. I really hate Jim Bowden.

The Story: Will the Angels try to match Oakland’s trade for a big time starting pitcher?
The Monkey Says: Dipoto continues to downplay the odds that he’ll address the rotation at the deadline. However, in usual JeDi fashion, he doesn’t completely close the door though I strongly doubt they have the pieces to make any such deal happen.
