The April 11th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Aybar misses game due to dental work, predicting the Angels 2014 record and much more…

The Story: Erick Aybar missed Wednesday’s game due to some dental work.
The Monkey Says: Thus solving the mystery. Note to Aybar, next time maybe wait until the off-day to get your dental work done.

The Story: Projecting each team’s record for the rest of the season.
The Monkey Says: 79 wins! Relax, it is more of a finger in the air prediction based on a small sample.

The Story: Be excited about Tyler Skaggs, but know the caveats.
The Monkey Says: What if I say no? Yeah, we get it. It was one start against a bad team. I still fully expect Skaggs to be a league average starter who has some very high highs and very low lows.

The Story: David Freese is getting comfortable in his new city.
The Monkey Says: So long as he didn’t use Josh Hamilton’s realtor, he should be pretty comfortable by now.

The Story: Projecting roster core strength.
The Monkey Says: The stars and scrubs Angels unsurprisingly get most of their production from their “core.”

The Story: Ernesto Frieri is relying more on his slider because he felt hitters were sitting on his fastball.
The Monkey Says: That is a good idea, but he really needs to make sure the slider or changeup are actually good. Frankly, he should focus on one, not both. They don’t need to be swing-and-miss pitches, he just needs to reliably throw them over the plate so that hitters need to take the pitches seriously. The jury is still out, in that respect.
