The Story: The Angels called up Cam Bedrosian, sent down Michael Kohn and optioned Dane De La Rosa to Triple-A.
The Monkey Says: Bedrock Jr. has been laying waste to Double-A, so it was only a matter of time before he got promoted. Meanwhile, Kohn has been terrible the last few weeks after getting off to a hot start. He could be back before long, but he and Dane De La Rosa, who ran out of rehab time, will both be fighting for an invite back to the bigs and there isn’t an obvious opening for either of them, assuming Bedrosian succeeds.
The Story: If the Royals decide to become sellers, the Angels figure to show strong interest in James Shields.
The Monkey Says: Not a surprise as the Halos took a look at acquiring Shields back when they traded for Zack Greinke. Shields would be a rental and expensive to acquire, but the front office likes him and he would definitely be an impact arm. That is why a lot of teams figure to show heavy interest though. For that reason, I very much doubt the Halos could pull off a Shields trade since they just don’t have much in the way of premium prospect assets.
The Story: Wade LeBlanc was claimed off of waivers by the Yankees.
The Monkey Says: Welp, the Angels will have to hope they don’t need the rotation depth. It sure would help if Hector Santiago got his shit together.
The Story: Josh Hamilton’s return boosts an already strong lineup.
The Monkey Says: If Hamilton can pick up where he left off, the lineup should be scary. Even with David Freese and Raul Ibanez joining forces to create a sinkhole right after the heart of the lineup, they should score plenty of runs. If Freese ever hits (or gets replaced by Grant Green) and Ibanez comes around (or gets replaced by anyone with a pulse), they would almost certainly have the best lineup in baseball.

The Story: Which teams are hitting (or missing) in the MLB draft?
The Monkey Says: The Angels obviously have done well for themselves if you look at the long-term since it factors in the likes of Trout and Weaver. I’d be more curious to see this done from a draft class perspective.
