The Story: C.J. Wilson ripped Alex Rodriguez and the other players suspended in the Biogenesis scandal.
The Monkey Says: Wilson is the Angels' union rep, so this isn't just him running his mouth again. OK, maybe it is, but at least he has the union backing him up this time. Hopefully Wilson's views are shared by a vast majority of the union because if so, it is the union that can really drive tougher testing and punishments to clean up the game. If not, it will the hypocrisy of the union that is truly "hilarious."
The Story: Grant Green was promoted to the majors yesterday.
The Monkey Says: Getting two hits of Yu Darvish is a pretty strong way to make your debut with your new team. Green should start at second base until Howie Kendrick gets healthy and really should play almost everyday at one position or another until the season is over so that the Halos can evaluate what kind of role Green can play for them in 2014. Daniel Stange was demoted to make room for Green on the roster. Nobody noticed.
The Story: An MRI revealed no serious damage in Howie Kendrick's knee so he will avoid the DL for now.
The Monkey Says: Why? I don't know. It seems like an ideal excuse to shelve Howie for two weeks so he can get fully healthy and Green can man second unencumbered.
The Story: Peter Bourjos will play through wrist pain the rest of the season.
The Monkey Says: Well, that seems like a terrible idea. Wrist issues submarined Bourjos' 2012 campaign, so I don't know why we should expect better results this time around. The real worry here is that this is a potentially chronic issue that could affect Peter for years to come. Unsurprisingly, surgery is an option after the season.
The Story: Chris Iannetta is getting the bulk of playing time at catcher again.
The Monkey Says: Scioscia is riding the hot hand and like the defensive improvements Chris made in recent weeks. Let's see if he still feels that way today after Texas ran all over Iannetta in Tuesday's loss.
The Story: Tommy Hanson left Scott Boras for the Legacy Agency.
The Monkey Says: Every time Boras loses a client, an angel gets his wings. This might just be a coincidence, but it sure seems like Hanson is preparing for the possibility of getting non-tendered this off-season.
The Story: Kaleb Cowart is among the top prospects Keith Law says have really hurt their stock this season.
The Monkey Says: Law even tried to sugarcoat Cowart's case, but it seems pretty clear that Kaleb will have to fix his issues at the plate next season or wind up going down the dark path of Brandon Wood.
The Monkey Says: Did we really need a survey of scouts for this? Is that not common knowledge? Even the "Scout" bot on MLB Gameday can readily identify Miggy and Trout as obviously the two best hitters in the game right now.
The Story: Battle of Los Angeles Week 19 featuring a new Motaism.
The Monkey Says: Well, at least we still have Jose Mota to entertain us. That's better than nothing.
