The October 29th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Dipoto doesn’t want to emulate Royals, Angels might have to spend more money and much more…
The Story: Jerry Dipoto won’t copy the Royals blueprint in adjusting the roster this offseason.
The Monkey Says: He wants the Angels to be a bit younger and more athletic, but he seems to be pretty happy with a more offense-oriented roster and won’t be turning things back towards a speed and defense model.
The Story: The Angels might have to spend more money this offseason.
The Monkey Says: Um, yeah, about that. There’s this thing called the luxury tax. You probably should have mentioned that since the Angels are right up against it and vowing to not go over, thus making it harder to spend that additional money you mentioned.
The Story: Bleacher Report predicts the Angels’ big move of the offseason will be signing Andrew Miller.
The Monkey Says: God dammit. Is no one paying attention? The Angels have almost no spending room, do you really think they are going to burn it all on another reliever? Miller is great, but the rotation is a wafer thin. Getting a left-handed reliever is a need, but it isn’t that important.
The Story: Round 3 of the Angels Fan Favorites Awards voting.
The Monkey Says: Can I vote “none of the above” for best Angel on Twitter? Honestly, nobody on the Halos has a good Twitter game. All the more reason for them to follow my plan and sign Brandon McCarthy.
