The November 23rd, 2012 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim including fallback plans for Zack Greinke, wondering if Trout has peaked and much more…
The Story: Who could the Angels turn to if they lose out on Zack Greinke?
The Monkey Says: None of those options are very attractive. They'd all be perfectly fine if they were the guy the Angels signed along with Greinke, but definitely not as an alternative to him.
The Story: What if Mike Trout has already peaked?
The Monkey Says: That seems counter-intuitive because he is so young, but at the same time, he just finished such an incredible season that it is hard to imagine him topping it. I don't buy the notion that this is already the best he'll ever do, but it isn't a stupid thought either.
The Story: Even after the MVP vote, Mike Trout's candidacy continues to be misunderstood.
The Monkey Says: The vote was over like a week ago, maybe it is time that we just let this go, ok?
The Story: Trout and Harper are the Mantle and Mays for a new generation.
The Monkey Says: No, they aren't. Harper has loads of potential, but he hasn't even scratched being an MVP-caliber player yet. Maybe in a few years, sure. I also just don't get why people want to compare Trout and Harper, or even Mays and Mantle for that matter. Mays and Mantle pretty much never faced each other, though they did play in the same city for awhile. Trout and Harper will also barely play each other, but they have no other form of rivalry. Stop it, America.
