The October 6th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including injuries doomed Angels, fan severely beat at Angel Stadium and much more…

The Story: Injuries ultimately doomed the Angels in the ALDS.
The Monkey Says: Eh, sort of. Not having Richards or Skaggs resulted in Wilson having to start Game 3, but neither had anything to do with the Halos scoring six runs in three games. Perhaps you could excuse the piss poor performance of Hamilton because of his injury woes, but he wasn’t the only reason the offense was so weak. This really just was one of those series where nothing went the Angels way. KC got all the lucky breaks and made every big play defensively and offensively. They were practically perfect and the Angels were far from it.

The Story: A fan is in critical condition after being beaten in the Angel Stadium parking lot.
The Monkey Says: There’s a lot to the story we don’t know, but it doesn’t sound like this was a random rivalry beating like the Stow case with the Dodgers. However, because of that case, there is sure to be a great deal of scrutiny on the Angel Stadium security response and general safety measures in the parking lot.

The Story: Mike Scioscia’s post-Game 3 interview.
The Monkey Says: Scioscia admits that the Royals were just better and generally avoids putting any blame on any of the players. It very much reads like a manager that had made his peace with losing the series before Game 3 even started.

The Story: 20 bad Josh Hamilton swings.
The Monkey Says: Whichever hypothesis you agree with, we can all agree that this was painful to read.

The Story: Mike Scioscia thought there was far too much attention on Mike Trout and Josh Hamilton going hitless the first two games of the series.
The Monkey Says: He’s right. The attention should’ve been on how badly Scioscia butchered his tactical decisions in Game 1 and hamstrung the team the entire series with two poor roster decisions.

The Story: Josh Hamilton responded to the criticism of his body language in Game 1.
The Monkey Says: Hamilton said he wouldn’t “show his butt on the field” but watching him try to hit felt like he was metaphorically showing us his butt each and every plate appearance.

The Story: RIP, 2014 LA Angels.
The Monkey Says: Their luxury tax comment is way off base, they have very little tax room, actually. Still, it was a great season that went almost entirely right until the last six weeks.

The Story: The Royals clearly had the scouting report on Mike Trout, like everyone else.
The Monkey Says: The difference is they executed on it for the most part. A big task for Trout this offseason will be figuring out how to address this hole in his swing.

The Story: Mark Gubicza didn’t know who to root for in the ALDS.
The Monkey Says: Just look at your paycheck, Mark.

The Story: A deeper look at the Angels’ threat to move to Tustin.
The Monkey Says: Honestly, there is so much left to play out here. Tustin is just the first salvo from Moreno. Sooner or later, if he doesn’t get what he wants, he’ll threaten to move to LA, which is his big trump card in order to draw out the ire of Orange County residents who don’t want to lose their team to Hollywood.
