The September 16th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Josh Hamilton could return Wednesday, inside Mike Trout’s poor defensive numbers and much more…

The Story: Josh Hamilton could return as DH Wednesday after taking BP sessions on Monday.
The Monkey Says: Hamilton even admits he probably won’t be batting clean-up when he returns. I actually doubt that latter point. He might hit fifth for a few games, but Scioscia won’t hesitate to move him back into the four-hole the second Josh shows signs of life and/or Howie Kendrick finally cools off. Either way, the good news is that Hamilton looks like he will be healthy enough to at least DH in the postseason. That is good news, right?

The Story: A look at why Mike Trout rates so poorly in Defensive Runs Saved.
The Monkey Says: We’d heard before about the lack of amazing plays which is really more of a lack of opportunity for him, but I hadn’t realized how much is poor throwing arm had gotten exploited.

The Story: The bullpen has been a big reason for the Angels’ second half surge.
The Monkey Says: If only Dipoto hadn’t ignored the bullpen the first two years of his tenure. What could have been?

The Story: To-do lists for the Angels and other playoff-bound teams.
The Monkey Says: How is “fix C.J. Wilson” not on that list?

The Story: A look at the Mike Trout-Dallas Keuchel matchup.
The Monkey Says: The Astros were the first team I noticed that was noticeably making an effort to pitch Trout up in the zone, so it is no surprise that even Keuchel pitched him that way. This has been happening for months now and I keep waiting for Trout to adjust, but maybe hitting high pitches just isn’t something he can excel at.
