The November 14th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Mike Trout voted unanimous AL MVP, Yankees inquire on Howie Kendrick trade and much more…

The Story: Mike Trout was unanimously voted the 2014 AL MVP.
The Monkey Says: Damn, I was so looking forward to having all sorts of internet outrage at the BBWAA troll that had him third on his ballot, but that didn’t happen. I did get the consolation prize of Mark Whicker voting Albert Pujols seventh on his ballot despite Albert being sixth on the Angels in WAR.

The Story: The Yankees have contacted the Angels about a trade for Howie Kendrick.
The Monkey Says: As has Toronto, but we knew that already. This post indicates that the Angels are now leaning toward keeping Howie though. That’s an awfully convenient stance to take right when interest in picking up. If I didn’t know better I’d think that the Halos were trying to drive the price up on Howie. No way they’d EVER do that, right?

The Story: A compilation of videos of all the cool things that Mike Trout did this year.
The Monkey Says: Call in sick to work, your morning just got booked up.

The Story: Mike Trout is merely incredible now.
The Monkey Says: A lot of this article talks about Mike Trout being bigger now, but I don’t know if that is based in fact. Trout was always built like a linebacker. Teams almost never give us accurate player weights, but I don’t know that he actually has bulked up. I don’t know that he hasn’t either. He certainly changed his game to account for being so big and not wanting to wear down his body, but I think it was a conscious choice rather than one imposed on him by added mass.

The Story: A look back at Mike Trout wonderful age-20 season.
The Monkey Says: A season in which he did NOT win MVP. Thanks again, BBWAA.

The Story: A graphical look at each team’s future payroll obligations.
The Monkey Says: That Pujols contract just keeps looking better and better.

The Story: Roger Kieschnick accepted his outright assignment to Triple-A.
The Monkey Says: Claimed from Arizona last month, he’ll likely be invited to training camp where he’ll compete for a bench spot.

The Story: A preview of the tough decisions the Angels need to make for the Rule V draft.
The Monkey Says: They’ll probably protect Bandy, just to be safe, but I am not so sure Reynolds needs protecting.

The Story: The Angels have too much relief pitching.
The Monkey Says: No, they don’t. In fact, I don’t think Dipoto thinks it is possible to have too much relief pitching. That’s why I don’t buy that they are going to trade any of them. Dipoto likes to be able to cycle through guys like the Halos did this last season.
