The Monkey Says: Shameless plug, but I do find it interesting how the Halos so quickly went from potentially unseating the Dodgers as the top dog in LA baseball only to take their place as the horribly dysfunctional franchise.

The Monkey Says: So I think what Brisbee is suggesting is that Mike Trout needs to order the assassination of Mike Scisocia or maybe I misunderstand.

The Monkey Says: See?! I told you!!! Someone is going to kill Mike Scioscia!!! Alert the authorities!!!!!! But seriously, I think a lot of this just points to what a bad idea it is for a team to hire a GM and not let him pick the manager. The GM and manager need to work together but instead Dipoto tries to force things on Scioscia that he is resistant to. That falls on both of them for not being able to get along, but it falls on Moreno for not realizing the mistake in hiring oil and asking him to work well with water.
The Story: Why do the Angels suck?
The Monkey Says: Believe it or not, this is a piece that provides hope because it doesn't actually find a fatal flaw with the Angels. I'm growing more and more pessimistic about the 2014 season, but at least there are others who are still giving them a chance.
The Story: Does Mike Trout's speed lead to more errors?
The Monkey Says: Sure it does. As the article points out, it probably doesn't cause a massive amount of errors, but anytime you can force the defense to rush, it can only help you.
The Story: Angels minor league outfielder Brand Bayardi has been suspended for a PED violation.
The Monkey Says: Bayardi is a 36th round pick from this year's draft, but Ric Wilson believes he is one of the best hitters that the Angels drafted this year. For what it is worth, the Methylhexaneamine is a substance that has been known to be put into legal supplements without showing up on the label, so it is possible that Bayardi was just guilty of not doing proper research on what he is putting into his body.
