The August 5th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Morin to DL with foot laceration, the state of Texas hates the Angels and much more…

The Story: Mike Morin was placed on the DL due to a foot laceration.
The Monkey Says: He suffered the injury walking on the beach in Tampa. So that happened. He got four stitches but is expected to spend the minimum time on the DL.

The Story: The state of Texas hates the Angels.
The Monkey Says: And California hates the Dodgers. I have no idea how these results were gathered, but I’m good with them and accept them as hard science.

The Story: Joe Thatcher expects to miss 3-to-4 weeks with his ankle sprain.
The Monkey Says: Thus confirming the original suspicions.

The Story: A second MRI confirmed Tyler Skaggs’ injury as just a flexor tendon strain.
The Monkey Says: Still no timetable on his return, but he will definitely avoid surgery… for now, at least.

The Story: Collin Cowgill was activated from the DL.
The Monkey Says: But you knew that already.

The Story: Assistant GM Matt Klentak talks about Mike Trout.
The Monkey Says: Klentak has already been well-schooled in by the PR department as he didn’t really say anything notable or interesting.

The Story: A prospect update on Alex Yarbrough.
The Monkey Says: They harp on him for the power, but I wonder how much that is the effects of Dickey-Stephens Park. Yarbrough will likely spend next season in Salt Lake, so he could rebuild his stock there. Let’s hope he does because the Angels only have Howie Kendrick under contract for one more year and it would be nice to have an alternative to Grant Green, just in case.
