The May 6th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Rasmus called up, Jimenez sent down, Burnett on the verge of rehab assignment and much more…

The Story: The Angels called up Cory Rasmus and sent down Luis Jimenez.
The Monkey Says: Rasmus could be a short-timer, but he should at least get a chance to prove himself. Nick Maronde lives to see another day. Lucho getting sent down is odd, because it makes you wonder why the called him up in the first place. That leaves Ian Stewart as the primary third baseman, but Grant Green will likely mix in, as will John McDonald, though perhaps just as a late-inning defensive replacement.

The Story: Sean Burnett appears to be on the verge of going on a rehab assignment.
The Monkey Says: This is great news, but his rehab assignment figures to be a long one as Burnett has not really pitched competitively in about a year. Essentially, he still needs to go through training camp, so don’t expect him to make three appearances and get activated.

The Story: Albert Pujols does not believe that Yu Darvish intentionally hit him with a pitch on Sunday.
The Monkey Says: But he made it clear that he is not real happy about it. There are some seeds being sown for a bigger blow up between these two squads the next time they match up.

The Story: Get to know C.J. Cron.
The Monkey Says: All I know from following him on Twitter is that he really loves Arizona sports teams. Oh, that and he might force Raul Ibanez into early retirement.

The Story: A look at how pitchers are challenging Albert Pujols more and more as he ages.
The Monkey Says: This is a must read. Some really amazing insight here into how pitchers are actually losing their fear of Albert and how it has translated to his results at the plate.
