The November 18th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including RBIs still a factor in Trout’s MVP win, ranking the top first basemen and much more…

The Story: Mike Trout’s MVP victory may not be the progressive vote you thought it was.
The Monkey Says: RBIs once again played a big role, just like in the years that Trout lost. This time, however, Trout happened to rate quite well in terms of RBIs and the way the rest of the voting went showed how much RBIs still matter to most voters. This really isn’t a shock as I don’t think anyone thought that the BBWAA had suddenly seen the light.

The Story: Buster Olney ranked Albert Pujols as the eighth best first baseman in baseball.
The Monkey Says: Argue with that ranking if you want, but either way the Angels lose since they are paying Albert like the best player in baseball not the eighth or so best player at his position.

The Story: The Angels signed catcher Raywilly Gomez to a minor league contract.
The Monkey Says: I have no idea who he is, but his name is Raywilly so I now love him.

The Story: Howie Kendrick is one of the ten players most likely to be traded this offseason.
The Monkey Says: Yeah, nobody is buying the line that Dipoto suddenly wants to keep him.

The Story: Hector Santiago is awed by Kubuki theater in Japan.
The Monkey Says: This is important news… or a very slow news day (at least for the Angels). I’ll let you decide.
