The Monkey Says: I have a hard time seeing him land there just because I think he wants to chase a World Series and Boston is such an unknown right now.
The Story: The Angels have reportedly scouted Japanese closer Kyuji Fujikawa.
The Monkey Says: Intriguing, especially since the Halos are reportedly not going to pursue Japanese high schooler Shohei Otani because they don't have an international scouting presence in Japan. If this report is true, then the Angels clearly have a strong interest in Fujikawa since it means they went out of their way to check him out specifically.
The Monkey Says: That really is the only logical conclusion I think, so it really isn't a big surprise to hear executives say that. It also isn't a surprise because if I were an executive interested in signing Haren, hopefully for cheap, I would definitely spread the rumor that his medicals are terrible.
The Story: Jim Bowden predict a six-year, $117 million deal for Zack Greinke.
The Monkey Says: I don't like most of what Bowden writes, but if there is one thing he is good at, it is estimating contracts. He did this same exercise last year and was very accurate, or at least more accurate than most.
