The May 22nd, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Santiago sent to the minors, Trout says hamstring injury is ‘no big deal’ and much more…
The Story: Hector Santiago was optioned to Triple-A to make room for Kole Calhoun.
The Monkey Says: The Angels aren’t interested in using Santiago as a reliever right now, so they are having him work in the minors so he can fix his issues and stay stretched out. It seems likely now that they will skip Matt Shoemaker’s next turn in the rotation.
The Story: Mike Trout says his hamstring issue is ‘no big deal.’
The Monkey Says: He said that after Tuesday’s game only to sit out Wednesday’s game, so yeah, it might be a little bit of a big deal. It is probably just the Angels playing it safe, but no good can possibly come of a speedy player having hamstring issues.
The Story: Bryan Harvey will represent the Angels at the MLB Draft.
The Monkey Says: Why? Who knows. It is probably the mustache and they can’t exactly have his mustache represent them without having Bryan there as well.
The Story: The Angels extended their affiliation with the Arkansas Travelers through 2016.
The Monkey Says: A fine affiliate, but I can’t help but think that one of these days a Double-A league in the western states is going to be developed since it is becoming more and more common for players to skip Triple-A.
