Halo Headlines: Scioscia blames the starting pitchers, Hunter guarantees a playoff berth, Pujols needed a rest

The August 16th, 2012 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim including Scioscia blames the starting pitching for the Halos’ recent skid, Torii Hunter guaranteed the Angels earn a playoff berth, Pujols sits to get some rest and much more…

The Story: Mike Scioscia blames the starting pitching for the team’s recent skid.

The Monkey Says: The rotations has definitely faltered lately, but I still blame the bullpen.  As much as the starters have struggled, it is the relievers who took the loss in five of the Angels last nine losses.

The Story: Torii Hunter guaranteed that the Angels will make the post-season.

The Monkey Says: I hate guarantees, but he did as a response to T.J. Simers trolling players in the clubhouse, so I actually endorse it this time around.

The Story: Albert Pujols did not play last night because he needed a rest.

The Monkey Says: It sounds like nothing to be worried about, but it did cause a mild panic when the lineup was first tweeted out.  Given how hot it has been lately, it is hard to blame him for being tired.  I just wish it didn’t make him sound like he was 58 years old.

The Story: The Angels have been very successful without actually experiencing much actual success.

The Monkey Says: Let’s face it, the AL West just isn’t really within reach.  They had their shot at it during the last Texas series and then fell apart.  It is hard to envision them failing to gain any ground over several months and then hacking into a six-game lead in just 44 games.

The Story: Even ESPN’s SportsCenter is finally starting to show Mike Trout some love (in between fawning over Tim Tebow).

The Monkey Says: At least it only took until mid-August.  Definitely no East Coast bias there, right?

The Story: The Angels are sinking towards their darkest day.

The Monkey Says: This might be the worst hunk of crap Jeff Miller has ever defecated out, and I only read up to the point that he wrote, “The answer absolutely is yes, we just might be.”  That’s right we absolutely might.  Hate is not a strong enough word.

The Story: If the Angels had a cologne, it would be the scent of a burning $20 bill.

The Monkey Says: I feel like there should also be a hint of the famous Scioscia family lasagna in there too.
