Halo Headlines: Scioscia's job security, Hamilton's return to form

The March 19th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Scioscia's job security, Hamilton's return to form and much more…

The Story: Mike Scioscia is on the hot seat entering 2014.

The Monkey Says: To a certain extent, yes, but I think Dipoto goes before Scioscia does. After all, Dipoto is on the last year of his contract and Moreno has not yet picked up his 2015 option. That is a pretty strong signal that it is Dipoto who is on the chopping block, not Scioscia, though I suppose it could be both of them.

The Story: Josh Hamilton and Tim Lincecum faced each other as they try to return to form.

The Monkey Says: Except that it is a spring training game and nobody cares.

The Story: The darkhorses to provide unexpected homers this year.

The Monkey Says: This is for fantasy baseball advice, but it was a slow news day and I thought it was funny that Mike Trout could be a darkhorse at anything.

The Story: Is R.J. Alvarez the next K-Rod?

The Monkey Says: Let's not get in front of ourselves. Alvarez has never projected to have that same kind of talent. He could be similar in that he might make an impact as a late season call-up, but that is a stretch as well.
