The Story: Masahiro Tanaka is being posted today.
The Monkey Says: The saga finally comes to an end with Tanaka getting his wish. Now teams have until 5 PM on January 24th to sign him. He may very well use up all of that time as he will have several suitors that can be played off of each other. For what it is worth, Tanaka hired Casey Close, who also represents Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw, as his agent. That seems like it would give the Dodgers an edge. On the bright side, this should finally open up the pitching market logjam so that Matt Garza can get signed in the next few weeks. Getting Garza seems like a much more likely path for the Halos at this point.
The Story: Five teams with the best shot at Masahiro Tanaka.
The Monkey Says: Noted moron Jim Bowden lists the Angels at second despite having to just dismiss their luxury tax concerns because, well, he wants to dismiss those concerns. He then somehow leaves the Cubs off the list, despite them widely being considered amongst the favorites to land Tanaka. So, take this with an entire mine of salt.

The Monkey Says: Bonus question #11: When are they going to get rid of "Buttercup?"
The Story: A second helping of MIke Trout was even better than the first.
The Monkey Says: This has been your daily dose of writers fawning over Trout because the news cycle is slow and there is nothing better to write about. Note: I am not complaining.
The Story: A patient Mike Trout is a better Mike Trout.
The Monkey Says: And he is only going to get better.
The Story: Major league stocking stuffers for each team.
The Monkey Says: Stocking stuffers tend to be smaller gifts, not big flashy ones like Tanaka or Garza, so I would hope the Angels found a right-handed platoon mate for Ibanez in their stocking, but everything has been pretty quiet on that front thus far.
The Story: Vintage Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton is the perfect gift for the Angels.
The Monkey Says: Those would be nice, but I'd still rather have another frontline starter in the rotation and take my chances on what Pujols and Hamilton can provide this season.
