Halo Headlines: Trout doesn't understand WAR, Phillies hosting 'Millville Night' when Trout comes to town

The October 4th, 2013 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Trout doesn't understand WAR, Phillies hosting 'Millville Night' when Trout comes to town and much more…

The Story: Mike Trout still doesn't really know what WAR means.

The Monkey Says: He knows what the acronym stands for, but not how it works. That makes him more informed than 95% of national baseball columnists, so he shouldn't feel bad. I would like to commend him in this interview for fielding a question about maybe joining the Phillies someday and answering in a way that didn't make Angel fans want jump off the nearest skyscraper.

The Story: The Phillies will hold a "Millville Night" at Citizens Bank Park when Mike Trout comes to town next season.

The Monkey Says: Basically, they are setting aside 1,000 tickets for residents of Millville to buy so they can see their local hero which should pretty much cancel out the good feelings Trout gave us in the interview above. Take some solace though that this isn't the first time they have done Millville Night, but I have the feeling this is a much more concerted effort on the part of the Phillies to make a good impression on the Millville Meteor.

The Story: Mike Trout is making the case for a whale of a contract.

The Monkey Says: He is, but it may not happen. It would be very hard for the Angels to improve the current roster, sign Trout to a big extension and still stay under the luxury tax threshold this off-season. It is possible they could just pay the tax in 2014 and then they'd probably be able to get back under in 2015, but that would still require some creativity.

The Story: It is unknown what will happen to the approximately 500 concession workers at Angel Stadium after the ouster of Aramark.

The Monkey Says: Hopefully everyone lands on their feet here, but who really knows.
