The Story: Jered Weaver has resumed playing catch.
The Monkey Says: Well, it isn't much but it is something and the Angels haven't gotten a whole lot of good news on the recovery front from any player in awhile, so we'll take what we can get.
The Story: Tommy Hanson may have to miss another start as a result of the death in his family.
The Monkey Says: No word on what exactly is going on, but the Angels do need to activate him after seven days, which means he might just chew up a roster spot for a bit while he gets himself together. It seems likely that Michael Roth would be called upon to spot start again if the need arises.
The Story: The Angels demoted David Carpenter and called up Barry Enright.
The Monkey Says: Enright has been terrible, but the bullpen is still pretty overworked after the game on Wednesday, so he is likely around just to serve as a long man should the need arise.
The Story: Elvin Ramirez has been outrighted off the 40-man roster and will remain in Triple-A Salt Lake.
The Monkey Says: Ramirez has been miserable in Salt Lake, so this might just be the team sneaking him through waivers given the opportunity to do so. However, it also creations speculation around why it is they felt the need to open a roster spot. There is speculation (and only speculation) that the Angels might scoop up Alfredo Aceves, but it could just as easily be clearing a spot for the sake of having one open later on down the road.
The Story: A look at how Josh Hamilton's struggles affect Albert Pujols.
The Monkey Says: I think Pujols has been more selective this year, so that is part of all this. I also suspect that the Rangers have been the most egregious about pitching around Pujols to get to Hamilton, so there is some skewing going on, though I'd have to check the numbers to be sure. All I know is it wouldn't hurt if Hamilton would start hitting sometimes very soon.

The Monkey Says: Rivalry or no, this is one of the coolest things I've seen in quite some time.

The Story: A rant about the quality of Angel TV broadcasts.
The Monkey Says: I think Rev needs a hug. I actually didn't notice the kids, but I am a person that watches the games on mute, though that has nothing to do with the broadcasts themselves. That is definitely a failing of the directors and producers of the telecasts. Even though the Angels now own a piece of Fox Sports West, I really don't get how this specific incident falls on Angel ownership other than Rev seems to think everything is the fault of Moreno and Carpino. That being said, the broadcasts are lacking in quality. I'm pretty sure there is one camera guy on the first base line that goes into an epileptic fit whenever he tries to get a close up of right-handed batters. If anything, maybe the fact that the Halos now own a piece of the network means that they can institute some change. Or maybe they will keep cutting costs and dump all the money into building a state of the art stadium in downtown LA. I'm just sayin'.
