Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 20

As always, the rankings are based on a player's overall season performance with a weight on recent performance.

1		— 0 Last Week: 1	Mike Trout – The Angels may be falling off in the playoff race, but Trout is stepping up his efforts to hold off Miguel Cabrera in the AL MVP race.
2		+1 Last Week: 3	Albert Pujols – Albert Pujols used to be able to put the Cardinals on his back and carry them for several weeks all by himself. Angels sure could go for a dose of that right about now.
3		-1 Last Week: 2	Jered Weaver – Weaver is a tremendous pitcher, but it sure seems like he has an uncanny knack for having disaster starts at exactly the wrong time. Oh, and so much for that whole Cy Young award thing.
4		— 0 Last Week: 4	Torii Hunter – His production continues to be solid, but what the Angels really need from him right now is some of that famed leadership we're always hearing about.
5		— 0 Last Week: 5	Mark Trumbo – He's picking up base hits, but the walk drought and Trumbomb drought continue.
6		— 0 Last Week: 6	Kendrys Morales – .328/.369/.607 in the month of August thus far. Those look an awful lot like his 2009 number, only a little better.
7		+2 Last Week: 9	Erick Aybar – He continues his torrid August, too bad the one moment he couldn't come through was on Saturday in the ninth inning to salvage a disaster.
8		— 0 Last Week: 8	Ernesto Frieri – Wait, a save? What is that? Are we allowed to have those? I mean, other than of the blown variety, of course.
9		+2 Last Week: 11	Howie Kendrick – His RISP and GIDP issues are totally distracting from the fact that Kendrick has been on fire this month and even finally broke through for his first homer since July 2nd.
10		+5 Last Week: 15	Alberto Callaspo – Three mult-hit games in one week seems like enough for me to put the kibosh on the "call up Luis Jimenez" article I was planning.
11		+2 Last Week: 13	Chris Iannetta – I don't buy it, but one has to at least start wondering if the Angels pitching going to crap right when Iannetta came off the DL is more than just a coincidence.
12		-2 Last Week: 10	Kevin Jepsen – So much for that whole "Jepsen is the lone bright spot in middle relief" era. I think we all knew it was too good to last.
13		-6 Last Week: 7	Zack Greinke – Does anyone know what the Milwaukee Brewers' policy is on returns? I'm pretty sure they sent the Angels a defective unit.
14		+2 Last Week: 16	Jerome Williams – By Bullpen of Perpetual Sorrow standards, Williams had a pretty good 5.1 innings, seven strikeouts and one hit allowed. Unfortunately, that one hit was a homer. Of course it was.
15		-6 Last Week: 14	C.J. Wilson – C.J. was well on his way to having two strong starts this week… and then the fifth inning happened.
16		— 0 Last Week: n/a	Scott Downs – Two appearances into his return and Downs already looks to have re-contracted whatever virus is running rampant in the Angel bullpen. So much for the savior.
17		+5 Last Week: 22	Ervin Santana – If ever there was a sign that Santana really is on the mend, it is that he got through an entire start without allowing a homer… OK, so it was against Cleveland, but still.
18		-6 Last Week: 12	Dan Haren – Quit being a hero and just admit that your back hurts again.
19		-2 Last Week: 17	Peter Bourjos – It is official, Peter Bourjos has been disavowed. ZERO at-bats this week. Meanwhile, Vernon Wells got three starts (and one hit). So there's that.
20		-2 Last Week: 18	Bobby Wilson – Bobby must've lost those blackmail photos that Mathis gave him as he only started once this week… not that I'm complaining.
21		-2 Last Week: 19	LaTroy Hawkins – Hawkins has allowed just four home runs all season, three have come this month.
22		-2 Last Week: 20	Maicer Izturis – Remember when Maicer used to be considered clutch? Yeah, those were good times.
23		-2 Last Week: 21	Hisanori Takahashi – After five perfect appearances, Taka undid all that progress with one miserable appearance in which he allowed three hits to all three batters he faced. And he wonders why Scioscia passes him over in obvious southpaw situations.
24		-1 Last Week: 23	Vernon Wells – For once, the Angels are struggling and we can categorically say that it isn't Vernon's fault. We can say it, but most people aren't. It is just our reflex as fans to blame him.
25		-1 Last Week: 24	Jason Isringhausen – The only reason he hasn't been DFA'd is probably just because the September roster expansion is less than two weeks away.
