Angels Player Power Rankings – Week 24

EDITOR'S NOTE: Now that rosters have expanded, so have the rankings. From here on out we will rank every Angel on the active roster. Why? Because I like making my own life difficult.

1 Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 24 — 0
Last Week: 1
Mike TroutAnother amazing week at the plate for Trout, but let's be honest, the most impressive thing he did was make that bare-handed catch while waiting on-deck. He simply isn't human.
2 Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 24 — 0
Last Week: 2
Jered Weaver At this point, the only thing the Angels need to do with Weaver is make sure he stays healthy going into next season.

Last Week: 3
C.J. Wilson Any time C.J. can beat Texas, it is a good week just because Ranger fans still harbor so much hatred for him.

Last Week: 5
Garrett RichardsHere's to hoping that his start against Texas fixed his sudden onset of command problems.

Last Week: 4
Jason Vargas OK, let's get this contract extension thing worked about before I change my mind. Starts like his against the Rays last week are giving me cold feet.
6 Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 24 — 0
Last Week: 6
Kole Calhoun – Big hits + incredible catchers = Man crush.

Last Week: 10
Erick Aybar – All of the sudden Erick Aybar is crushing the ball to the tune of a .630 SLG last week.
8 Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 24 green arrow up+1
Last Week: 9
Josh HamiltonIt only lasted one day, but for the first time all season, Josh Hamilton had a .300 OBP. Yes we can!

Last Week: 7
J.B. Shuck – For a guy who supposedly takes good at-bats and works counts, it should be pointed out that he hasn't drawn a walk since August 19th.

Last Week: 12
Ernesto FrieriI'm just as shocked as you are that Frieri had a golden opportunity to blow a save against Texas and somehow didn't.
11 Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 24 Red arrow down-3
Last Week: 8
Mark Trumbo For all the people who have started calling Trumbo the new Adam Dunn, it should be noted that Adam Dunn can actually draw a walk.

Last Week: 14
Dane De La RosaDDLR isn't great, but one thing he brings to the table that pretty much everyone else in the bullpen doesn't is that he keeps the ball on the ground. Dane has given up three homers all season and the last one he allowed was back on July 30th.

Last Week: 11
Hank Conger Conger and Iannetta have nearly identical wOBA, TAv and wRC+ numbers which just goes to show you can be productive at the plate in a variety of ways.
14 Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 24 Red arrow down-1
Last Week: 13
Grant Green – Green smacked his first homer last week but also accomplished the rare feat of having a batting average higher than his on-base percentage.

Last Week: 16
Chris Iannetta With his recent mini-power surge, it is going to be a photo finish in the race to see if Iannetta can get his slugging percentage to exceed his OBP by the season's end.

Last Week: 15
Peter Bourjos I'm so glad the Angels forced Bourjos to play with an injured wrist and ruin his confidence in the mean time only to finally send him off for the surgery that he should have had weeks ago.

Last Week: 19
Jerome WilliamsJerome is pitching like he suddenly realized he is going to get non-tendered after the season.
18 Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 24 Red arrow down-1
Last Week: 17
J.C. GutierrezI for one am shocked. SHOCKED, I tell you, that J.C. had to miss time because of arm tenderness. It is almost like Mike Scioscia horribly abused him for an entire month or something.
19 Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 24 Red arrow down-1
Last Week: 18
Luis Jimenez Lucho wasn't doing a lot to put himself into contention for the starting third base job next season. Now he is going to up the degree of difficulty by trying to play without functioning thumbs.
20 Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 24 green arrow up+3
Last Week: 23
Andrew Romine And suddenly Romine is smacking the ball all over the yard and delivering clutch hits. I don't even know anymore.
21 Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 24 — 0
Last Week: n/a
Collin Cowgill Cowgill is back to steal playing time from Kole Calhoun and not J.B. Shuck for some reason. Thus far he isn't doing much to justify that decision.
22 NO PICTURE AVAILABLE — 0
Last Week: 22
Buddy Boshers – Boshers has somehow only allowed one hit to right-handed batters yet has given up five runs against righties. This is what happens when Michael Kohn inherits all your baserunners.
23 Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 24 Red arrow down-2
Last Week: 21
Michael Kohn It is staggering that Kohn still has an ERA as low as 3.35. I'd love to see a stat where inherited runners scored are factored into an ERA-like number.
24 Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 24 — 0
Last Week: n/a
Ryan Brasier The lone September call-up. Is this really the best the Angel farm system has to offer?

Last Week: 24
Cory Rasmus Well, this just isn't working out at all. If Dipoto isn't going to get fired, then he should at least be restricted from trading with the Braves.

Last Week: 25
Joe Blanton Congratulations to Blanton on making it through his lone outing without giving up a homer. He is still terrible, but at least he is keeping it in the yard.

Biggest Riser: Romine and Aybar, up three spots each

Biggest Dropper: Trumbo, down three spots
