The April 16th, 2014 edition of daily news for the Los Angeles Angels including Pujols gets his power back, Hamilton to start workouts and much more…
The Story: Albert Pujols is getting his power back.
The Monkey Says: Yes, boys and girls, being able to swing with your lower half kind of matters a lot when it comes to hitting.
The Story: Josh Hamilton will begin working out again on Friday.
The Monkey Says: He still can’t use his injured hand, but he can begin doing many of the things he needs to do to keep in shape during his recovery. Hopefully that means he won’t need much of a rehab stint in the minors once he is cleared to swing with both hands again.
The Story: Yoslan Herrera describes his journey to get back to the majors.
The Monkey Says: Step one: don’t quit. Step two: find a big league team in desperate need of arms. Step three: PROFIT!
The Story: Don Baylor will rejoin the Angels after their upcoming road trip.
The Monkey Says: He won’t be in the dugout right away, but will be around for pre-game work, which is probably more important.
The Story: Dane De La Rosa has been placed on the DL and sent on a rehab assignment.
The Monkey Says: This is more of a paperwork move. De La Rosa could argue that he was still hurt and thus could file a grievance for being sent down to the minors while hurt. This avoids that scenario and allows him to continue pulling a big league paycheck while he gets his issues worked out. It also means that he has to spend at least 15 days in the minors rather than 10 had he just been demoted.
