LAA 5, BOS 4: Tempers flare, Angels take series

Bobby Abreu got all the revenge he needed.

After Josh Beckett threw at his head in the first inning for calling time late in the at-bat, Abreu hit a go-ahead two-run single in the third inning giving the Angels a 3-2 advantage. Vladimir Guerrero padded the lead in the eighth launching a homer off of Hideki Okajima.

Boston staged a comeback in the final frame as David Ortiz notched an RBI single making it a one-run contest, 5-4, but J.D. Drew struck out looking with two men on to end the game.

Brian Fuentes recorded his second save of the season in the win.

Goat of the Game – Offense

The Red Sox cannot just rely on the big fly to win games. Boston, as a team, left 10 runners on base in the loss. For those who are counting that is 44 in six games played.

Next Game – Mon. 4/13 vs. Oakland Athletics – Jon Lester/Dallas Braden

Lester is 2-2 with a 3.94 ERA in 6 games started against Oakland. He is 1-1 with a 2.31 ERA at The Coliseum.
