The Star looks at the impending labor issue
As the Indianapolis Colts union rep, Pro Bowl center Jeff Saturday has kept his teammates apprised of developments, and possibilities. He has urged them to prepare for the worst.
“Guys should be saving money,” Saturday said. “If something gets done, fantastic. We move on. If not, we have to be prepared for the worst and deal with it if it happens.”
With so much at stake — the NFL hasn’t had a work stoppage since 1987 — everyone hopes common ground can be reached.
“We’re a long way from killing the golden goose,” Saturday said back in training camp. “There’s a lot of men making a whole lot of money in this game.
“We’ll see at the end of the day how serious everybody is.”
