Lackey went 7 strong tonight as the Red Sox have won 10 of 15 ever since Tampa Bay left Fenway with their brooms. (Seems such a long time ago, doesn’t it?) He allowed only 2 hits and 2 walks while letting only one of those Angels reach home plate. Bard gets the hold, while striking out two. Papelbon gets the save. No walks or hits allowed by either.
Former Red Sox pitcher Joel Pineiro went 6 innings, struck out 5, and held the Sox to 2 runs.
Other items of note- David Ortiz went 2/3, one hit being a home run. What is noteworthy, however, is the fact that he did not strike out, leave any teammates stranded, and did not ground into any double plays. Nomar was also honored before the game. He threw out the first pitch in typical off-balance fashion.
