Lars Anderson, Kevin Frandsen, and More

Lars Anderson has been promoted to AAA.  He started the season with the Sea Dogs where he hit .355 with 5 homers.  It is nice to see Anderson rebound from the offensive slump of last season.

Kevin Frandsen has been claimed off of waivers by the Angels.  The Red Sox placed him on waivers to put Alan Embree on the 40 man roster with the hope that nobody would claim him and he could continue to play with the PawSox.  It looks like the Red Sox took a gamble on this one and lost.  The Red Sox traded for Frandsen in March.

Red Sox blogger Dan Lamothe of the blog Red Sox Monster is heading to Afghanistan for six weeks for a journalism assignment with The Marine Corps Times.

I fly from Virginia on Friday night, and should be in Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital, by Sunday. From there, I’ll be whisked by C-130 cargo plane to Camp Leatherneck, the Corps’ main hub of operations in southern Afghanistan, and eventually airlifted by helicopter to meet with one of two infantry battalions in Marjah, a former Taliban stronghold.

We wish him the best of luck and look forward to his safe return where he can resume his coverage of the Red Sox.
