Lasch Bash a Hit Among Recruits

Unlike last year, Penn State’s annual cookout did not produce a commitment, atleast initially. Let’s take a look at what went down.

Who Did Make It?

As it turns out, all of the 2017 class did make it to campus after it was unclear if Yetur Matos would make it. The #2 player in the 2018 class, and Penn State commit Micah Parsons also made it. Penn State’s other 2018 commit, Chris Bleich did not make it.

Penn State’s top target in the 2017 class, 4 star Lamont Wade did make the trip to State College as his tweet indicated.

Mac Hippenhammer, a highly sought after reciever from Indiana made the journey to Penn State as well. I like the Lions chances with the 3 star.

Darius Stills, a 3 star DE said Penn State was a blast.

2018 defensive lineman Jamion Franklin spent the weekend and said he had an unbelievable time while at camp Friday.

Saquon Anderson-Butts, a 4 star WR from Harrisburg, made the trip. Penn State is considered the early favorite for the 2018 recruit.

The #1 running back in 2018 cycle, Ricky Slade was on campus this weekend as well. He would be a big get in 2018 as he would be replacing Saquon Barkley who will probably enter the draft after his junior year.

Securing The Pledge

Although there were no commitments this weekend, James Franklin may have put the finishing touches in securing a handful of pledges over the next two weeks.

Three visitors, Jonathan Sutherland, Brailyn Franklin, and Brelin Faison- Walden are all committing in the next two weeks and Penn State is the favorite to land all three. I also feel Franklin and staff may have made a move with Hippenhammer and the Lions now lead over Michigan State.

Recieving an Offer

A number of visitors from the weekend walked away with offers from Franklin.

2018 linebacker Charlie Katshir recieved an offer and the Lions are considered the favorites for the rising junior.

John Morgan, a defensive lineman, also recieved an offer. Morgan attends DeMatha Catholic in Maryland, the school of Penn State freshman Shane Simmons.

2018 4 star linebacker Dallas Grant also recieved an offer after camping for the weekend.

A talented 2019 recruit, Jordan Houston, recieved his first Division-I offer from the Nittany Lions today.

After losing out on their top 2017 tight end target Matt Dotson, Penn State extended a scholarship to 3 star tight end Reese Leitao to fill the tight end position in this class.

Worth Noting

Penn State made the top 6 for in state wide out Mark Webb. Webb and his cousin, 5 star running back D’Andre Swift will be committing together. They are considered Georgia leans.

Stay tune for more updates.
