We've all watched the football game that goes something like this: Two teams relatively matched play, and team A drives down the field but misses a FG. Team B takes the ball and makes a FG. Team A drives down the field again but on 3rd and goal from the 3 throws a pick. Team B drives the field but scores the TD.
Its 10-0 now, and team B is at the 40 of team A once again. Score another TD and this game is about over! This is where the Bucs are right now. They've played good enough to win against their opponents, The Jets and Saints, but instead gave it up in the end. Now Tampa Bay is 0-2 and about to play the New England Patriots up north for a chance to get back into the season.
Lose the game however, and at 0-3, well its not that hard to see the season spiraling out of control. So what do the Bucs need to do?
1)GET OVER IT – If you dont like schiano, or if you do, if your a player, get over it. You can get out after February…but for now, as a player, you want to look your best so you CAN attract another team, IF thats what your after. Josh Freeman has absolutely NO leverage. Its silly to think about him asking for a trade. Trade to who? Where? NO one is going put up anything for him at this point. He would have to win some games for the Bucs for anyone to bring that talk up.
2)MAKE THE BREAKS GO YOUR WAY- Instead of ten penalties for untold yards against, play smart, disciplined football, the kind Greg Schiano was brought here to coach up.
3) KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO GOOD- Bucs lead the NFC in sacks. Boy has it been a long time since we've said that. So get after Tom Brady so he doesnt get after you! Doug Martin is going over 1,000 yards again this year, and Carl Nicks is practicing again.
4) MAKE THE ADJUSTMENTS… CORRECT WHAT YOU HAVNT DONE WELL- Don't run the ball every first down, mix the plays up and get some first downs passing…on first down. And find the Tight End.
Because the season is early…there is a lot of time left..but it's like your flying a plane into a wall. You have plenty of time to turn away, but the closer you get to that wall, the harder its going to be to avoid it as you get closer and closer. If the Bucs cant find a way to win Sunday, they will go into the Cardinals game as an honest to goodness MUST WIN GAME…IN SEPTEMBER.
That's not good. But, neither is this Bucs season so far. &
